The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC) has issued a Consent Order to the City of New York, requiring the clean-up of wetlands on the city-owned Flushing Airport site. The New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYC EDC), a city agency that manages city-owned real estate, has been awarded $4.3M from the State's Clean Water/Clean Air Bond Act to allow the EDC to finalize the plan for the project.
How this relates to the land that Airships Unlimited is seeking for the blimp port project, and the status of 25 acres of the 77 acre site not assigned for wetlands restoration or development, is currently being researched.
